Imaging Technology Gets Drive Analytics

The disk imaging software has been updated with a “drive analyser”, which allows inspecting the characteristics of the drive and contains important information for when a dumped disk fails to be read. The following tests are carried out:
- System Type
- PAL/NTSC
- Step Head Delay
- Calculates the amount of time one cylinder movement takes for the head stepping motor in the drive.
- Track Capability
- Type, track step timing, tracks available, etc.
- Drive Motor Ready Delay
- READY signal checking and spin up time, drive motor RPM, maximum cylinder supported by the drive.
